Anxiety - The Fight, Flight & Freeze Response

Why do we do it? - Explained....

Corona - Virus stress and the chaos of modern life is increasing our anxious reactions.


There are now multiple stressors that provoke anxiety and our bodies to respond to feeling threatened, in the same way we would from a predator in our evolutionary past.


Our nervous system responds to potential stressors.

When stressed our brain focuses on negative memories to learn from. With the aim to avoid similar experiences.


Over time we can become hyper vigilant and anxiety, stress and depression can harm our ability to recognize experiences which are not really threatening. Making false activation of our stress response system more likely and anxiety to persist.
